How to get to here

By car (rental) Land route.

It is recommended that one rents a 4x4 or 4x2 vehicle when driving to Drake Bay.

Palmar Norte is the last town on a tarred road, before traveling the rest of the route on a dirt road. If you'd like to stop to eat, remember to stop before Palmar Norte. There are many places along the way where you can stop to eat along the way. There are a variety of good restaurants, and supermarkets along the way that you may want to stop at before Palmar Norte. Remember to find an ATM along this stretch of road before starting on the dirt road, as there are no ATM's in Drake Bay.

Directions to Drake Bay after leaving Chacarita: After passing the community of Rancho Quemado, you will come to a crossroad with multiple signs. Take the road on the left to cross the bridge i.e. not the old road by the river. Some apps will take you across the river. Take your time, drive slowly and enjoy the drive.

By Bus & Boat

First, you will need to take a bus from San Jose, the Tracopa Bus Company. The first bus time is at 8:30 AM, arriving at 2:30 PM in Sierpe. The second bus is at 3:00 PM and arrives in Sierpe at 9:21 PM.

If you would like to arrive at our accommodation on the same day as you leave San Jose, please take the 8:30 AM. Otherwise, if you are taking the afternoon bus, plan to spend the night in Sierpe and take the first boat the next day. Buses are comfortable and clean, and usually the bus makes 2 stops along the route for passengers to use the restroom and get something to eat.

The Bus Terminal in Sierpe is the same location as where the boat leaves from. There are two public boats to Drake Bay. The first boat of the day leaves at 11:30 AM, while the second boat for the day leaves at 4:00 PM. The boat ride is $20 USD per person per way, cash only in person. You will be able to purchase boat tickets at Donde Jorge Bar, Restaurante y Embarcadero.

Your boat will drop you off at Drake Bay beach (prepare to jump out the boat onto the sand), then you will grab a taxi to our accommodation. The cost of the taxi is about $40 and should take around 40 minutes to reach Rustic Roots Eco Farm.
